Suggestion: New field for publish date/time

In a future release, it would be great to have CityDesk fields for the date and time that the article was updated. The current filedDate and filedTime are useful when the articles are written (or if you want to pre-date something), but they aren't updated if the article is updated.

I'm thinking along the lines of what a weblog would need, but it would also be helpful for any article that was updated by the author.

Right now I use filedDate and filedTime, but I have to remember to go in an update the properties page. Has anyone else found a good solution for this?

I've found a couple of older posts that had this same request, listed for reference:

Several folks have requested this.  It would be nice to have "updateddate" and "updatedtime" variables and for CityDesk to display those dates/times on the "Properties tab."

I don't want it to replace the fileddate though.  I'm not sure how I'd want a revision date involved in "Never publish before/after" boxes.

If and when workflow happens in CityDesk, there might be many more dates to deal with but I'm getting confused just thinking about those possiblities.

I agree with the .updateddate field.
If Citydesk would get some workflow management, then I don't think it is a good idea to include every date. Rather than that, I would prefer using a mapping between script variables and internal variables. E.g.
.publisheddate : ifblank(article.publishdate)?fileddate:.publisheddate
