How to update Images?

How can I update an image? If I delete it and readd it:

A) It goofs up references to it.

B) This is a pain.

Easiest solution is to refer to the image by absolute reference in the files that refer to it.

E.g. <img src="foo.gif"> instead of <img src="PTMFOG...">

That is "contrary" to CD way. One of the main reasons I use CD is so that I can rearrange files at will.

Is this really not supported in CD?

How about an option that when a file is added/dragdropped that conflicts with an existing filename it asks to add with new name or replace?

This solution also "breaks preview on this computer"

You can also just double-click the image file in the CityDesk main window to open it, and then paste your new image over the old one in your image editor. When you save and exit from your image editor, the file is updated and doesn't break any links.

Ugh. Well its better than before.  I'll test it with GIFs etc....

Still say we need a drop and replace option....

CD is great in some areas but really lacking in some basic essential areas and seems to be quite feature stagnant.

Aww, c'mon Chad, give 'em a chance. What version 1.0 product is perfect?

I've got confidence that Joel and the guys are listening to our suggestions, but they've got their hands full with version 2.0. It's pretty hard to manage feature development across parallel product streams when fundamental components like the HTML editing control have changed. I'd prefer they spend their time getting 2.0 into our hands sooner, rather than developing features for 1.0 that will get superseded by 2.0 in a few months anyway.
