Hangs during publish/vanishing HTML

I realise I was doing something stupid, but I would have thought that CD would recover from it.

Anyway, I mistakenly typed {$.body$> in an article and when I went to publish it CD just sat there until I killed it via ctrl-alt-del/end task.

I also noticed that when I switched from html to normal view that everything outside and including the <body> tag got stripped off.

Eep! You're right, that's a bug.

There are a couple of situations where you can actually cause CityDesk to hang due to syntax errors. We'll get that fixed in SP2.

The part about stripping out everything except what is inside the body tags, is by design.  Articles are only supposed to contain html fragments, not whole articles - they don't stand alone, always in conjunction with a template.  And so the template defines everything outside the body tags...

So you're saying that if I want a one off file which doesn't use a template, I should add an HTML file instead of an article?

exactly.
