Tables

Can anyone suggest the best way of adding a table e.g. to the body of the index, holding a link to each article in its own cell?

If I add <TABLE> in HTML view CD's Normal View gets confused, and I read Joel saying that non-text should really be confined to templates. But I see no way of doing the above in a template.

Thanks.

You should be able to add the table tags into the HTML source view.

Try something like this:

<TABLE border=2>
<TBODY>{$foreach x in folder "foo"$}
<TR>
<TD>{$.body$}</TD></TR>{$next$} </TBODY></TABLE>

That deomnstrates the Normal View order confusion I mentioned - it appears as:

{$foreach x
in folder
"foo"$}
{$next$}
{$.body$}

and left/right arrows forever loop the cursor around the last two lines.

However it works in the site - my question is 'is this allowed'?

This is because stuff can't appear inside a <tbody> tag unless its in a tr or a th.

so the {$foreach and the {$next part are invalid as far as the DHTMLEdit control is concerned.  Luckily it doesn't mangle the html so its fine - just don't edit it in the normal view.

That is quite a severe limitation for the site owner...

Could you clarify whether CityDesk supports tables or not?
