CityDesk metatags - workaround

Re forum posting
http://discuss.fogcreek.com/CityDesk/default.asp?cmd=show&ixPost=13545&ixReplies=3

I have found that replacing <title> with <title > (ie, adding a space) is enough to prevent CityDesk from adding these extra generator and citydesk meta tags.

FYI, these extra tags were cause my javascript to fail, because they added carriage returns to the HTML code which was, in fact, a Javascript variable.

David.

Are the generator and citydesk meta tags necessary to use the "Edit with CityDesk" menu option in IE?

I should have read the referenced post.  The answer is Yes -- those tags are needed to be able to edit from the IE menu.

Another tangible advantage of ridding the pages of those tags is that the TITLE tag will be positioned further up in the HEAD which is preferred by some search engines.
