Report on "Search Maker Pro"

Since:

I bought Search Maker Pro:  http://www.searchmakerpro.com/

I'm doing a site that is now 147 megabyes on the server.

It took me 29 minutes to index the site on my 2.8gig PC. The site has about 400 .doc, .dot, xls, and .pdf files and about 600 ordinary html files.

It produces one HTML file that includes the search form and a big pile of javascript that contains all the indexing information. That file is 3.3 megs. Don't dare do normal view on that file - CityDesk crashes.

As far as I can tell, the search itself works pretty darn good.

So, I publish the site to a file copy, run Search Maker Pro, copy the resultant HTML back into my "search.html" file in CityDesk and publish again.

That 3meg search file is no fun to load but the site's home is primarily a CD-ROM where it's not a big problem.

But for folks who use it from the web, is there any way to start loading the search page before the user gets around to looking at it?
