Features I wanted today

I'm doing a new site. I wanted to show my customer what it might look like in my very limited repertoire of templates. That meant template families:
http://www.fogcreek.com/CityDesk/help/Creating_Templates/UsingTemplateFamilies.html

Here is I wanted: All have been mentioned before, I think.

1. Importing templates (and the css, graphics, and variables, etc.) from one .cty file into another.

2. I know that template families will assign directories for publish locations; well I know that now. But I didn't want the "first" template family to be in the "HTML"directory. So, I have to juggle through the publish locations to do that. I wanted template family and publish location info all on one screen.

3. The absolute link thing that allows you to switch from one template to another (this thing "<a href="http://mysite.com/{$.abslink$}">Normal Version</a>" keeps it from working in a preview. Maybe I'm missing something.

4. I wanted the "Preview with" to work after a "multiple publish location" publish.

With the benefit of hindsight, I'll probably do this better the next time. And, it's very nice of CityDesk than I'm able to do it at all.

Re. 1: Drag and drop between two simultaneously opened citydesk sites would be nice (and coonsistent with the overall Windows experience).

Maybe it increases the overall bandwidth of my site, but I always keep my CSS in the HTML document becaues of the way Citydesk & Dreamweaver handle templates.

Not that my site is getting thousands of hits a day anyway.

Then copying a template is just a matter of copying & pasting the HTML & fixing any graphics links. In fact, I keep the template in a .txt file just in case my citydesk file gets wiped out, I still have the template & graphics I need to recreate it.

Today, I would have found it just a little bit quicker if I could have selected multiple articles to delete.

And to highlight a bunch of articles in 1 go and change which template they're using.

Yesterday, I needed to get the magic name for an article in the (article) search results. Sorting the search reports by date / folder / whatever would have helped too.
