.net user control and citydesk htmlview problem

I have a couple of user controls on my .Net .aspx pages. Unfortunately when you open these pages in the Citydesk HTML editor in normal view (by accident of course) and save & close the user control references get deleted.

Example:
Before:
<!--Main Menu --> (html comment)
<Public:MainMenu id="MainMenu" runat="server"></Public:MainMenu>

After:
<!--Main Menu --> (only the html comment left)

The workaround I've found is to switch the aspx file type to open with the built in text editor. Does anyone have a better workaround or fix?

The usual fix for this sort of problem - script that CityDesk mangles - is to put the script into a CityDesk variable. Fairly painless.

Having it in a variable can be handy when you want to reuse it, too.
