The "x" in {$x.body$}

Forgive me if this is in the docs. I've taken a look but I'm not finding it...

I'm creating a weblog and would prefer not to have a "table of contents" on the front page -- just the articles themselves.

This is section of index.html that displays the articles:

<div class="content">
  {$foreach x in (all)$}
    <div class="headline">{$x.headline$}</div>
    <div class="datetime">{$setDateTimeFormat "English" "dd MMM, yyyy" "hh':'mm"$}{$x.filedDate$} {$x.filedTime$}</div>
    <div class="paragraph">{$x.body$}</div>
  {$next$}
</div>

This works, but it took some experimenting. It took the addition of an "x" in "{$x.body$}" to get things rolling.

I have a rough understanding of why this worked, but what exactly is the purpose of the "x" in this situation?

Thanks.

Doh... (blinding flash of insight)

Nothing to see here, folks. Move along, please.
