Images don't publish if aligned left or right

Has anyone seen this before?

I am working on a page which is laid out using Bluerobot.com's 3 columns/flanking methods CSS:
http://bluerobot.com/web/layouts/layout3.html

I've simply got a {$ .body $} in the central column. The problem is, images inserted here that are to be aligned left or right don't display (there is the space left for them, and hovering shows up the alt tag text). If I leave the image to be "inline" it displays ok.

Never seen that before. There's plenty of text to wrap around the images. Bizarre.

Ok. I found it.

the {$ .body $} is contained in a class div (called .content)

In .content in the CSS if I remove the line

    background-color:white;

my Internet Explorer 6 now shows the picture.
Nothing to do with CityDesk

If it's any consolation, this very same bug ... er, unexpected result ... drove me to distraction a few months ago too.
