How to add a template

Oh, this is harder than what I thought.

I didn't use CityDesk till now, because I do other types of work, but when I showed it to a friend, and wanted to explain him that it's better for him, I had an hard time adding a template.

Can someone please explain me how to add a template (from the templates library) to an existing CityDesk site?

If you mean templates from:
http://discuss.fogcreek.com/redirect.asp?http://templates.fogcreek.com/

This is one way: you must get the HTML, the style sheet, and deal with any graphics or variables. It's probably easier than it looks.

Download the .cty file you want from that page. Then open the downloaded .cty file. Copy the template's HTML and paste it into a new template in your existing site. Then,  copy the style sheet too. Then you'll need to paste the magic name of the new style sheet into the html of your new template.

If the template has any CityDesk variables or graphics, you'll need to deal with them.

This isn't so easy and simple (as the rest of the program).

Agree. it might be easier to start with the template site and move the old site into it. Or. publish the template site and import one of the  published pages. That will bring the graphics with it. You'll need to deal with the style sheet too. I've done it that way several times.

This has been disucssed a lot: how to combine things from separate .cty sites.
