Two languages - two template families

I apologize if this was asked before but I couldn't find an answer on the list.
I have a site in Japanese and English and I have two separate template families- one for each language. When I publish, CD creates FOUR directories- English Templates->English, English Templates -Japanese, Japanese Templates - English and Japanese templates- Japanese.
I only want English Templates - English and Japanese Templates- Japanese. I wonder also if this will speed up my publish times. Any way to have it not publish the unnecessary directories? I mean, I would never display english content in my japanese template and vice versa. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

That may be the way it is for preview, but you can set up your publish location to only use one language.  So in your case, you would make two publish locations, one for your english language, english template family, and one for the japanese language, japanese template family.  They just can't both be published to the same directory on the webserver ( you could put one into a subdirectory ).
