Feature Request: HTML View of Extras

CityDesk is an awesome page content composer, however, I have run into a slightly annoying feature.

I would like to be able to enter pure HTML into the boxes of the EXTRAS section of an article.

Currently, I can think of several ways to do this...

1) You can cut and paste simple HTML from a browser such as IE and any url links or table definations will be preserved.

2) You can create custom HTML and store it in a variable, then put the variable into the Extra box. (Since CD Script is evaluated from within the extras).

3) You can edit the database directly in Access (not for the faint hearted).

4) To make my own live easier I have written a small program that exposes the extra's boxes in much the same vein as CopyBoy. If anyone wants it (still in beta) drop me an e-mail.

What I would like to see in the next release is the "view source" option to extend to any input field that is evaluated at publish time as HTML.

Is this a planned expansion for CD 2.1?

I second this request.

The MS HTML edit control is nasty, and I want nothing whatever to do with it.

Besides, I want to create articles that serve as image containers: body = <img> tag for the main image, extra1 = <img> tag for the thumbnail, other article fields (headline, author, file date, etc.) as appropriate. Then I could use CityScript to create photo albums.

Anything for free access to those extra fields.  Even a rich text on/off command-line switch!

Pat,

I just did this in a site a built. The way around the problem was to add the images to the database and then copy and paste their magic names into the fields.

After that just access them as usual. Not the most easily maintainable way but it got me around the problem.

Regards,
Patrik
