Headlines linking to an external url

Hi, I'm tryning to make my headlines link to an external url.

I did not find the solution yet, but maybe with your help...

I was thinking to link the {$.headline$} to another variable called {$.link$}.
This "link" variable would get it's content from one field of the document "Extra 2" for example.

But Citydesk refuses to put {$.extra2} as the content of my "link" variable.

How to achieve what I'm trying to do ?

Thanks a lot for your help

I'm not sure I understand what you're trying to do, but I'll have a go at answering anyway...

If you want to create a link on your page where the headline is the link text and extra2 contains the link URL, you should be able do something like this:

<a href="{$.extra2$}">{$.headLine$}</a>

Just be careful to always paste the link into the Extra2 field using Edit->Paste Without Formatting, so only the text of the URL gets added. Otherwise, CityDesk will recognise that what you pasted is a URL, and it will add the <a href></a> tags around it and break your script.

I'm not sure either, but now that the headline field is rich text, you can just make it a link.
