do not publish files

Is there a way to not publish files (not Articles)? I have a bunch of PDFs which don't change. Once on the server, they don't need to be republished.

I want to keep them within CD so I can use Magic Names for linking.

If Folders were Objects, then I could not publish a folder.

I guess I  could delete the PDFs and then not publish the index page, but that's kludgey.

The reason for the question above is that I was publishing the site and each time I published, all PDFs where ftp'd.

Now it's just publishing the changed articles, as it should.

I guess it's like going to the doctor.

Amos :re "do not publish files"

I do not remember who, but someone made the suggestion that works really well.

Create a Template that is completely *blank" – make sure that this template contains nothing whatsoever - tags or CityScript like {$ .body $).

Any file that you associate with the BLANK template will not be published. Works great for me.

How do you associate a file, such as a PDF file, with a template?

OOPS, sorry Amos I did not pay close enough attention to your question ... I do not know what the solution might be for PDF files.

What if you embed PDF files in an Article then use my suggestion ... only guessing here since I have not done this kind of thing with PDF ... but may be worth a try.
