Run Script Before Publish

If I run a script before publish (as can now be done)  what happens if:

1. I delete a file inteded for publishing: Will the site be published without that file, or will CityDesk raise an error on me?

2. I create new files in the temporary directory: Will they be published as well or simply ignored?

Answer to #2

I am sure any files you put into the temporary directory yourself will not be known by CityDesk.

I think CD uses the citydesk.xml file to determine what to transfer up.

Hi Daren and Dan.

the answer to 1. used to be that it causes an error
and the answer to 2 used to be that the file wouldn't be
published... but somewhere along the line things appear to have changed!!

I've just tried a local filecopy using a pre-publish batch file deleting a file (which now doesn't cause a CD error) and copying  a file to the %1 directory which now appears in the citydesk.xml file and publishes.

It seems further experimentation is in order...why not give it a try also?  :-)

I have php running on a local apache server here  set up to process html extension files as well as .php

When I want to publish static htm files to the web I use a dos batch file to process the files using command line php saving back to themselves before uploading to the web.

Yep, basically I fixed this bug so it works right now.. if you mess with the directory structure, CD will build a new citydesk.xml based on whatever you changed, and upload it as is...
