Categories in the blog

How to implement categories system in the Citydesk blog? It means that every article simultaneously lays inside date taxonomy (e.g. 2003/10/13/iamhappytoday.html) and belongs to "categories" list (like here http://www.johnsadventures.com/general/Archive.html)?

Or should it be made manually?

Sorry for "Russian" english... :(

The way I manage categories is to put the category into the keyword of the article and on the archive page do a search for all articles with that keyword.

So in an article that I want to be in the 'weather' category I put the following into the 'keywords' field of the article: (cat:weather).

Then on the archive page I do something like this:

{$ foreach x in (keywordContains "(cat:weather)") SortDescendBy .fileddate $}
  <p><a href="{$x.link$}">{$x.headline$}</a></p>
  <blockquote dir="ltr" style="MARGIN-RIGHT: 0px">
  {$x.teaser$}</blockquote>
{$ next $}
