Tracking visitors when they leave your site

I spent a couple of hours this afternoon writing up this and then publishing - if you've got access to your web server logs or a good visitor statistics package from your ISP, and you want to know how many visitors click through on the external links that are on your web site - here's one method:

If you all start buying ClickTracks then I'll kick myself for not signing up to their affiliate programme (-:

I don't know. Does this work for the code of an exit page?

<html>
<body onload="document.location.href=window.location.search.substring(1);">
</body>
</html>

But if JavaScript is disabled then the visitor's not going to reach their link.

The above code does work (but not if its run off your hard-drive). Also, you don't want to include the "url=" part as described in my notes - just

exit.html?http://whatevertheaddress-is.com
